    Rating Slider

    Suggestion:

    The rating slider is a bit too complex - It should have 10 options at most, instead of 100, and probably should just have 5. Also the fact that anything above 80% is a favourite is too broad. If your going to keep the 100% thing then favorite should probably be only in the top 5 or 10%.

     Yes, we agree. Which is why by the start of next week it will indeed only have a few fixed positions. We currently have 5 positions planned for this design.

     I liked how you could rate things with a lot of flexability. If I like artist A a lot more than artists B and C, I'm more likely to rate their tracks as 83% 81% or 79%, while for B's tracks they might get 68%, 63% and 54% and so on, therefore giving a much clearer definition of how I like certain tracks. Rather than lumping lots of things into the same few categories, which could imply that I like B and C's stuff much the same, wheras B could be in the top part of category 3 ratings and artist C's stuff in the lower part of that category.

     I definitely preferred the previous version of this, the triangular slider was better than the current thin line, it was easier to click on and move, as well as preferring the greater flexability of rating on a scale up to 100 in single digit increases rather than the 0-100 in graduations of 10, it's very jumpy if you slide it to approx 65 for example it might go to 60 or 70.

    1)  I agree about the triangular slider

    2)  I think it would be helpful to "group" the ratings scale, but keep it simpler (5-10 setting).  People who LOVE (hmm... we'll say) The Ramones, think REM and Radiohead are fantastic (or love in lowercase), and really likes -maybe- 2 songs that WuTang put out 8 years ago but doesn't want recommendations from WuTang, yet doesn't want to say "they suck"

     SO

    maybe just a visual grouping of the ratings -   1  2  3     4  5  6     7  8  9    10

    where 1-3 mean "yuck"

    4-6 mean "don't suck, but not really looking for more"

    7-9 mean "I like 'em" -to- "I luv 'em"

    and 10 is "OMFG I WANT TO BEAR THEIR CHILDREN"

    that way a person can say they really like stuff, but a band has to be super-special to get that 10.

     It's still work in progress. The rating slider is going to get abit more of a tweak in the next week or so. We've taken on board the thin line is not enough, so will address that, and also that if we have divisions should be clearer. I don't think we are going to return to the percentage slider, the chunks we have are unclear what they do for you just yet, so your naming does make sense.

    Expect an update on the slider in a week or so.
