    Playlists Broken

I was excited to receive notification that the new filter engine was ready, and it certainly seems to have a lot to explore. However, yesterday when I downloaded it it would create rudimentary playlists in iTunes with command + 1. Today it has stopped doing that - simply giving the error "no suitable songs found" (even with songs that "worked" yesterday). Anyone else got this? Any ideas how to fix it?

you are going to need to: 1) Quit the Filter from The Filter menu 2) Remove the preferences in /Library/Preferences/com.Exabre.TheFlitter.plist 3) Re-launch The Filter

As a current user of the new client you should have recievd an email explaining the need for a reinstall yesterday. Did you not recieve this? The problem was that we detected a major bug in our database which required some drastic measures. In practice what this means for you is the filter client needs to rescan your music collection, and the only way to do this currently is to reinstall the application on your machine. We looked at the alternatives, and this impacted least on our system, and is a once only event. Apologies for disrupting the service, it's essential we fixed this problem before we went live to the wider public.

    Re: Playlists Broken

So, it is "TheFlitter.plist" and not "TheFilter" (I've seen "TheFlitter" elsewhere on this site as well)? I think I might have performed an improper, lazy search for the wrong term in an earlier search because now I see it as such...

Flitter, yes. That is an old name for the project, during dev.

Why did you have to do it more than once? Once, after the email was sent around, should be enough. What problems are you seeing?

I'm getting the same "No Suitable Songs" message every time I try to create a playlist, too.  In fact, I've had the Filter tool rescan three times, and it's never worked.  It's always seemed to crash or quit at the end of the scanning process.

Hi, you may want to check for the recent update. There was a random crash on leopard I think. ( The app will update if you choose automatically update from the preferences pane if you are not up to date). If that does not work, send a line to support with your email and password and we can investigate it more thoroughly. Ta.
