I rated some music last week. This week, my ratings are apparently gone, since it now says that I haven't rated any music.
All-in-all I like the new "down-sized" Filter - the older program was just a hog and was (on my older Mac) a bit slow and clunky. I put up with it because I liked the playlists it generated. So I'm glad to see that it is now a menubar item.
That said, my suggestion would be that you give us more information about what it's doing. I realize that the way it makes recommendations is a trade secret, but some idea of what its doing would be helpful. As noted elsewhere in the forum, the application and the website don't handle classical music well, and that needs some work. Example: I chose 3 Bach pieces and got a playlist including those 3 pieces and then ONE Simon & Garfunkel tune. While artist is important when choosing classical music, often the composer is MORE important.
Carrying that thought forward, The Filter's website could become the only social music site that takes note of the composer instead of just the artist. This would allow us to find new covers of our favorite tunes - Cole Porter, the Gershwins, Bob Dylan, Lennon/McCartney, etc.
With regard to ratings, perhaps you could import our (already rated) music library? That would save us from having to manually rate things on the website. What is the point of the Filter application noting what we're playing if we still have to rate things manually?
