Playlists aren't as good as they were with standalone app

Playlists aren't as good as they were with standalone app

The Filter plug in is a lot more preferable to the old stand alone application; but the playlists it generates just don't seem as good. I'm not talking about functionality issues like being able to auto extend and the like but the actual songs it chooses are not as appropriate to the seed track as they used to be. Also there is another annoyance. If I skip a song before the end, or if I play a movie trailer or song preview on the iTunes store, the plugin sends this information as if it is a song that I have played all the way through. Also every time I quit iTunes (even if it has been sitting idle and not playing anything) TheFilter will send info on the last played track (or partially-played track) again. This happens after multiple relaunches of iTunes and will persist until another track is played (or partially played). As well as this, the recent activity section on the Filter webpage does not show tracks recently played on my iPod. As I (and probably most other people) listen mainly on their iPods, I would have thought this info to be more relevant to the recommendation engine than what has been played on the computer. Just my impressions, Cheers, Easybourne

I agree, the playlists that i am getting have about 4 songs that are relevant, but the rest are really random.

Yeah, our recommendations have been going through a lot of changes to recently, and the algorithm still does need find tuning.

We take the evidence from stuff you own, have played and rated more into account than we used to. It's not yet perfect but should improve over time :)

I'll flag the client reporting stuff up when nothing has been played for ages to our Mac client team, sounds like a bug to me...

It seems to be happening with the Windows client also.

I get only a few good recomendations.

I really did like the old Filter, that just gave music similar to what song you chose.
