 When I start The Filter I get a message:

Application has generated an exception tha could not be handled.

 

Process id=0xddc (3548), Thread id=0xfc4 (4036).

 

Click OK to terminate the application

Click Cancel to debug the application.

Hi,

This would suggest a .NET Framework problem. Your best bet would be to

1. uninstall the app,
2. repair the MS .NET Framework (Start > Control Panel >  Add/Remove Programs > Microsoft .NET Framework v2.0 > Change/Remove > Repair),
3. reboot
4. re-install the Filter application.

 I reinstalled Net frameworkv2.0 SP1 via this site : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908077

after this I still get the same error

 I reinstalled netframework 2.0 again with a removal tool from the internet now.

When i start the filter I get an other error now :

Sorry you're having problems; it's not happy is it? :(

 

The application is actually written in .NET 1.1, but does run under the .NET 2.0 framework.

In the absence of any further thoughts perhaps removing the .NET 2.0 framework (by doing an uninstall, or using that tool you found) and installing the .NET 1.1 framework (and service pack - offered from Windows Update once you have 1.1 installed).

Do you have any logs in the following directory?

C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Filter\Logs

 

Do any .NET applications work? I suspect not...

Have you tried uninstalling the application and reinstalling it, since you've installed .NET 1.1?

Have you done a Windows Update to ensure you've got the .NET 1.1 Service Pack?

The folder logs does not excist. I have ISP monitor running (its uses net framework 2.0), so .net framework should work. I did the windows update for NET servicepack 1.1. I reinstalled filter several times with no succes
