  • Re: Some rambling thoughts

Hi, sorry for getting back to you late... No, the client marks tracks as owned by you, which is interpreted differently from your ratings. It also registers when you play them, further hyping them up. You can still rate music you own by going to it on the site. The ratings you give items are just a part...

  • Your Genres are too limited

First of all, big thanks for creating The Filter. It's a great idea and sure beats going to Amazon.com and endlessly clicking "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought". I have to tell you though, your options for Genres are extremely limited. It's sort of like going to a small-town...

  • Does The Filter filter?

Hi there! So far I'm pleased by all the things The Filter does but there is still this one question? Does it work at all. I still see everything I rated, be it music, movies or genres, shown to me at a 100 % mo matter what rating I gave them. So I'm wondering if that is just a display problem...

  • Thoughts on Filter recommendations and rating

I rated some music last week. This week, my ratings are apparently gone, since it now says that I haven't rated any music. All-in-all I like the new "down-sized" Filter - the older program was just a hog and was (on my older Mac) a bit slow and clunky. I put up with it because I liked the...
  • Why bother?

Was very much looking forward to the service. Therefore, I was very disappointed when it failed to deliver. During the rating process I was asked to rate Blink 182. I give 'em a +1. I go on to rate several others more positively. When I get to my home page I see that there is a section for listing...

  • Re: Search on Movies Taste Profiler

As a user, I think it would be helpful to know what "for our purposes having the degree of opinion is important" means in a way. Maybe include an explanation-for-morons of your algorithm (or whatever you're using) to give us a better idea what 10, 20, 30... really means. I understand that...
  • Re: Rating Slider

    1) I agree about the triangular slider 2) I think it would be helpful to "group" the ratings scale, but keep it simpler (5-10 setting). People who LOVE (hmm... we'll say) The Ramones, think REM and Radiohead are fantastic (or love in lowercase), and really likes -maybe- 2 songs that WuTang...
